Pension and tax refunds

Claim Your Japan Pension Lumpsum (Nenkin Refund) After You Leave

You paid into Japan's pension system while you worked here. That money does not stay with the government. We file the claim for you, deal with the offices in Japanese, and tell you the exact fee before we start.

The check is free. We reply in English, Tagalog, Vietnamese, Indonesian, and Nepali.

Four things you may be owed

Most people come to us for the pension refund and find out they also have tax money waiting. We check all four every time.

Pension lump-sum (Dattai Ichijikin)

We don't just claim your Pension Lumpsum, the 79.58% that lands in your bank account. We also claim back the Pension Tax Japan withholds on it, the other 20.42%. Two claims, one filing.

Income and resident tax refund

Most people never claim this one. While you worked in Japan, income tax and resident tax came out of every payslip. If you sent money home to family, much of that tax can be refunded, and next year's resident tax can be reduced. Some customers save up to ¥250,000.

Can refund up to the full income tax you paid each year, and reduce your resident tax bill each year
You can file for the last 5 years

Maternity allowance

If you paid Japanese health insurance while working and gave birth after going home, the birth allowance, up to ¥488,000, may still be yours. We check your insurance record and file the claim.

The numbers that matter

Rules people find out too late

2 years The window to claim your pension lump-sum after you leave Japan. Miss it and the money stays with the pension service.
5 years The maximum contribution period paid back for time from April 2021 on. Before that date, the cap is 3 years.
20.42% Tax withheld from your lump-sum payment. You need a tax representative in Japan to get it back. That is us.
Why us

Honest, boring, finished on time

There are agents who take 20% of your refund, agents who add fees after you sign, and agents who stop answering once they have your documents. We built this company because our first customers had already been through one of those.

One flat fee, agreed in writing before we touch your paperwork. Never a percentage of your refund.
A real office in Kawagoe you can walk into, and staff who speak your language.
The same person handles your case from the first message until the last payment clears.
Your original documents go back to you by tracked post.

People who already got paid

I flew home in March and thought the pension was the end of it. They filed the tax part too and a second payment came in September. I did not know that money existed.

My Japanese is bad and the forms scared me. They messaged me on LINE every week in Nepali until the money was in my account in Kathmandu.
